Iowans Ask Zach Nunn to Stop Breaking Hearts and Protect Lower Drug Costs

Fairness for Iowa Coalition and Constituents Deliver Valentine’s Day Card to the Congressman

Des Moines, Iowa -- Constituents of Congressman Zach Nunn delivered a custom-made card on Wednesday to his Des Moines office for Valentine’s Day. Their Valentine did not wish him loads of love but instead demanded that he protect the hearts and health of his constituents by protecting Medicare’s ability to negotiate prescription drug prices.

The Valentine’s Day message dropped off by constituents of Nunn, highlighted Medicare’s new power to negotiate drug prices thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, which Nunn did not support. Because of the law, an estimated 164,000 Iowans will save an average of $525 per year on prescription drug costs.

“Zach Nunn is part of the Republican Study Committee, a group that released a plan that would take away Medicare’s power to negotiate lower drug prices,” said Ken Sagar, President of the Iowa Alliance for Retired Americans. “Under that plan, seniors on Medicare would have to keep facing the burden of the high prices the drug companies set for prescription drugs. It’s time for Zach Nunn to support the Iowans he represents, not side with Big Pharma and corporate special interests.”
